Study

Last night as I was writing in my journal, I thought, how many ways can you say "I studied today"?
And is it completely true? Because then there's pinterest, which is way too distracting, so today I am going to turn off the internet and study. I think that would be better for the test tomorrow, don't you? And then tonight when I write in my journal I can truly just say: "I studied today"

Today's Psalm

The Lord is my light and my salvation
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?
 When the wicked advance against me
    to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
 Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.
 One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
 For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.
 Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.
 Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.
 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
 Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.
 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.

Teach me your way, Lord;

    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.
 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.
 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Orange

The color of the day is... ORANGE!
I really like the color orange, but sadly cannot wear it unless I want to look a little sea-sick.
 I was inspired to pin lots of pins today of orange things. I think this was because of my electric-orange stethoscope that I used during clinicals today and which I lost for a few hours. Thankfully I found it, which was the reason I purchased an orange stethoscope.
Have a wonderful day, and find something orange to enjoy!

Bitter-sweet

Today I pulled into the Grayling Mercy Hospital at 5:32 am, and one minute later at 5:33 a baby was born. As I arrived on the med-surg floor where I have been doing clinicals, my teacher came up to me and said "I'm going to send you down to OB, a baby was just born". I think I about jumped through the roof. I was so excited. It was a really good day, I got to ask the nurses a lot of questions and caring for a newborn baby is just the best!
It was a good reminder of how precious life is yet, how babies are born into a sin-cursed world. Bitter-sweet. I was again reminded that even though everything seems against this new little life, with Christ, all things are possible!

School or Worship?

I am so excited this semester to be taking Maternal health and Child development as a part of my course of study in nursing. I had my first test today and the second lecture. My teacher is of course not a Christian and in fact worked for Planned Parenthood. Yet even she cannot help but acknowledge the miracle of life and wonder at the intricacies of human development. In all my classes I am struck with how amazing God is, but I find myself even more in awe of Him when I study for this class. Praise His Name! Life is a Miracle! School is Worship!
I wish my teacher would acknowledge this psalm, but she doesn't, so I have it written inside the cover of my notes to remind me of my Awesome Creator.
For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!

Psalm 20

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
    May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
 May he send you help from the sanctuary
    and give you support from Zion!
 May he remember all your offerings
    and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah
 May he grant you your heart's desire
    and fulfill all your plans!
 May we shout for joy over your salvation,
    and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!
 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
    he will answer him from his holy heaven
    with the saving might of his right hand.
 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
    but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
 They collapse and fall,
    but we rise and stand upright.
 Lord, save the king!
    May he answer us when we call.

New Beginnings

I am going to make a new attempt to be a blogger. I really enjoy blogging however once you go a few days without an entry, the harder it becomes to write a post. And so it goes, on and on and on and on... until one day you realize it has been oh... three or so months since you posted your last post. Hmmm... So, I am back. Back in the blogger world.
